Here I Stand

It is a success to just find six people to play a game based on The Reformation.  Last Friday we got through three turns and Henry VIII got through that many wives.  Fascinating period of history and this game is playing out really well.  Richard is the Hapsburgs, Simon Ottoman, Jeff French, Mark B English, Stephen is the Pope and I am the Protestants.

Looking at the VP track everyone's on 16 or 17 except me, languishing on 6.

  1. So jealous, always wanted to play that game but our local group would never be able to get 6 players together enough times to complete a game. Most sessions we have maybe 4 gamers.

    1. I am lucky in that my circle of gamers includes a good number of retirees. That said it is still a challenge to get six people together and focussed on a game. I hope to complete a final post on this game which we finished yesterday. Stay tuned!

  2. 6 VPs - Protestants were always a conservative mob

    1. It all changed on Turn 4. I then had a two turn window of being very close to winning but everyone ganged up on me and failed to see the Hapsburgs power to victory in Turn 6. Excellent game. I've now published a post on the final sesion.

  3. The Protestants went from 6 VPs to 24 (one short of victory) in turn 4 following play of the Schmalkaldic league. It was only through drastic intervention by the Hapsburgs to cut down control of Electorate spaces which enabled both a Hapsburg win and prevented a Protestant win. I think everyone got a fright by how fast the Protestant raced into the lead, even the French reacted by playing Phillip of Hesse's Bygamy removing that Protestant leader from the game.

    1. The 12 points for the Electorates was unexpected. The other 6 came from Reformations. They could have been better. That said, it was good to have the League card as the Protestant.
