Arab Conquest versus English

This was my Arab Xmas army's first outing.  I thought it would do well against Dave's English, but it ended up being an amazingly close run thing.

With the English out scouted, I was able to line up my Arab fanatics just right.

We plod forward.
The Arab slingers are in range, but fail to score any hits.

But the English longbow are now in range and get in some lucky shots.

Now in charge range.
Who would get the initiative?

The English do, but decide to focus on archery as a means to stopping the Arabs.
The Arab charge had one major success.
Would they be able to exploit it?

The next turn saw another charge by the Arabs,
pushing back their opponents, but in each case failing to follow up!
What gives boys?

Now things start to hang in the balance,
with both sides approaching their break points.

Both sides jockey for position.

The Arabs lose two more units and are on the cusp of breaking.

But so are the English.
The Arab general charges and...
just comes up short!
(one in three chance of this happening, along with those previous failures to pursue)

But the Arabs win.
Their units that had to hold, did so.
Their unit that hard to win did so
(the right wing Bedouins on their camels)
Phew!
