Hearts of Iron - Australia and New Zealand -

Bruce and I started a new session of Hearts of Iron where we play pairs of mutually supporting countries.  In the past we have done Germany/Italy, Commonwealth/France and Poland/Rumania.  It is a computer game which is constantly receiving updates and so what worked before, might not work again.  This time there is an enhance logistics element for example.

Bruce, who is playing New Zealand, has provided the following:

1 January 1936

Leaders of Australia and New Zealand today discussed the increase in authoritarianism in Asia and Europe and reassessed the threats to democracy in the Pacific.

They resolved to strengthen their own defences, starting by building up their infrastructure, construction and industrial sectors.

Informed commentators react with many questions.  Will other countries react?  How can two small countries, with populations of less than seven and two million for Australia and New Zealand respectively, influence world events driven by much more populated countries in Asia and Europe?  What policies shall these governments follow to achieve their goals?

Only time will tell…
