Military Modelling Magazine Index 1974 to 1976

This post is inspired by this post at Tiny Tin Men which contains links to indexs of various wargame related magazines.

Recently, I picked up a whole lot of old Military Modelling magazines that take me right back to my teenage years and introduction wargaming.  Having neatly put them in boxes I feared that was going to be.  Just memories that are hard to access.

Previously I had searched for an index to Military Modelling magazines, but without success.  So in the best traditions of the hobby I decided to start building one myself.

Rather than wait an eternity for me to finished and deny the good while seeking the best, I have decided to publish this first installment, covering 1974 to 1976.  I'm just missing one issue in this period and Murphy's Law states that is the one with the article you are looking for.  At least you are forewarned.

I hope that link works and that creating an Excel document allows ready access with a degree of sorting/searching capability inherent.

Feedback gratefully received.

  1. Great idea Mark and I’m sure this will be a tremendous resource for Wargamers of our vintage.

    1. Thanks Carlo. It is a fun trip down memory lane in some cases, plus also providing immediate benefit to a number of my current projects. I'm currently enjoying the Camel Corps and Gordon Relief Expedition articles by R J Marrion & D S V Fosten that appeared late in 1976.

    1. Thanks. If I can do one issue a day it I might get the job finished in about six months (my collection only goes up to 1985). But I've gone back to Issue No.1

  3. Thanks for the index. I've only got 1 installment of the "younger general" rules, but the gridded table now seems very modern.

    1. My pleasure.

I see that the index I have so far completed only starts with Part 6 of the Younger General series. I will have to pay attention when I get round to the early parts (in a few months).
