This was a practice game using my armies. Brad and John chose the Sicilians as they had more cavalry. That was true to start with...
The Byzantines have been out scouted.
Their cavalry is massed on their left,
while a skirmish screen extends their right.
The Sicilians advance against the Byzantine right,
hoping to sweep it away.
The Byzantine cavalry is now in striking distant of the main Sicilian cavalry.
The Sicilians have sent out some javelinmen to try and screen or delay the pending Byzantine attack.
On the other flank, Byzantine shooting has been deadly and the Sicilians are starting to thin down.
Both wings have contacted.
The Byzantines had the advantage in both.
That advantage kept growing and the Sicilian wings have all but been demolished.
The Sicilian spearmen have engaged the Byzantine heavy cavalry.
The remainder of the Sicilians have advanced and hope to snatch victory
from the fast closing jaws of defeat
The Sicilian moral has collapsed and they are surrounded.
Sicily will be returned to the Empire.
