An historical match up to provide Steve B with an opportunity to learn Basic Impetus. Steve borrowed my Arabs to run as the Turks against my trusty Byzantines.
The terrain favoured the Byzantines,
providing them with secure flanks.
A cautious advance by both sides,
with Byzantine slingers scoring an early hit.
Shooting erupts, but both sides seem unable to secure a target.
On the left the Byzantine light cavalry charged, but were bloodily repulsed.
The shooting of missiles of various sorts intensifies,
but as yet no decisive hits,
except to the Byzantine Kataphractoi.
In a reversal of fortune,
the Byzantine light cavalry charges again
(the alternative was to hold their ground and get shot at).
It succeeds, unlike the shooting which is quiet ineffective.
The Byzantine Kavallaroi charge,
the opposing Seljuk light cavalry fail to evade and suffer the consequences.
Have the Seljuk's left it too late to attack the Byzantine centre?
No!
The Sejuk main body attacks.
The Daylami succumb to the Varangians
who were tired of waiting patiently while been peppered with sticks.
The Byzantine Kataphractoi are wiped out.
The battle's climax.
Each side is close to breaking.
But victory goes to the Byzantines.
