Flocking the Sheep

I could have called this post "Sheep May Safely Graze" or "Rebasing the Sheep" but I don't think I would have got the same traffic or level of interest.

These sheep are from a long forgotten manufacturer, possibly associated with railroad accessories.  My recollection is that I based them up on six 20mm by 20mm cardboard bases to be used for DBM.  As I never took to DBM I was lucky to be able to use them for DBA and later FoG and now Impetus.  Only trouble was that the bases had warped and had all got too fiddly.  Something had to be done.

And so they have been sliced from the cardboard squares and rebased on to MDF rectangles.

One DBA camp sized flock with the obligatory black sheep.

The other DBA camp with tuft.  Note a bit of the old flocking around the centre sheep.
Not sure what caused the effect, but I like it.

And here we have an Impetus camp.  The camp followers having just apprehended a sheep fancier and are reading out his punishment as the man with the big staff steps forward to administer it.

I suppose I could have called this post, Debasing the Sheep.

The important thing however is to get them into action and I've thought of the appropriate game/armies to use with them tonight.  Stay tuned.

  1. Nice baa-baas there! Was the guilty party caught in the act of "flocking"? :)

    1. Thanks. The little guy is carrying a bag that was found to contain flock. He tried to claim it was for personal use, but the good shepherd wasn't having any of that. Flock was also found on his shoes, a sure sign he'd been up to no good.

  2. I am guessing you will be testing some sort of New Zealand war?

    1. I don't think there is a New Zealand DBA army, so no.

    1. Thanks.

He must have come in the pack as he's actually molded in black plastic. The others all in a white plastic.
