I had never played this game but had played Empire in Arms. Richard hadn't played this since he was at Uni and wanted to give it a go.
We just did the Austerlitz scenario. Played quick and relatively simple. Attrition was a bit fierce. Makes me want to get out Empire in Arms.
War & Peace is a classic!

DeleteOh, but it does for me. I wore out a copy in the '80s playing long running PBM games.
DeleteI acquired it 2nd hand a couple of months ago. I still have to give it a try, but will defintely do so.
ReplyDeleteAs Jonathon says it's a classic. Based on my one play I would certainly say it seems to play well.
DeleteIt is an elegant design and really boils down to a game of maintaining supply and logistics but punctuated by a few decisive battles. Great game.
