Due Camion Italiani

Very simple paint job on these wonderfully detailed printed 1/100th models from Battlefield 3D.

Fiat 666 Medium Truck

Lancia 3Ro 4x2 Heavy Truck

Bellissimo!!

I am reminded that I have a scratch built Lancia in 1/76th scale that I constructed using plans from the Airfix Afrika Corps guide.  Sadly obsolete, but worth a post if I haven't already done one on it (and a quick look tells me I haven't).

A Lone Grant

This poor chap had been sitting around at the 80% finished mark for some time.  Done now.  Went for the most basic colour scheme on the theory that he has been rushed to the front as soon as he arrived.

Lovely 3D printed model from Battlefield3d.

And finally what it looks like in the bright sunshine, eh flash, of the Western Desert,

Zhis iz notz tgaz truck

This beautiful little 3d printed model of a Gaz AAA 6x4 truck was mistaken for a ZIS truck leading to a little embarrassment when it seemed to be undersized.  The Gaz is smaller than the ZIS by design.  I should have realized when its label noted AAA, presumably like batteries, the more As, the smaller it is :-)

But disaster struck and in this wild and wintery weather we are having it was blown out of my hand to smash on the driveway when I took it over to show Richard.  Luckily we found all the parts, although it took three goes and Richard's eagle eyes.

Ouch!

This post was started 1 August, but never completed... Until now!

The comparison that caused the angst.

A Trio of BTs

August and September have been dry months for painting and modelling.  I did do some work, but nothing to completion.  The weather was bad (and my studio, while grand, is down the back of the garden) and I had other things happening in my life.  In reviewing posts from these months I see I have two relevant posts that I haven't finished, but they can wait because now I have my mojo back and completed this delightful trio of Soviet BT tanks.

The BT5 on the right is Zvedza, while the BT5 and BT2 are from Battelfield3d.

A Krupp Protze kfz-19 radio command car and a Soviet 203mm Howitzer

These are the last two models of the batch I got from Battlefield3D with Richard and which featured in the post https://onesidedminiaturewargamingdiscourse.blogspot.com/2021/04/just-in-time-for-lock-down.html

Rather fitting conclusion as it took another lock down for me to get my mojo and finish them.

Three 3D AB40s and a Lancia 3Ro 6x4 Command Truck

These had been finished a while back.  Happy how the armoured cars turned out, but my brush technique with the truck left me a bit nonplussed.

Three 3D Models Completed

Painted up quickly.  Only challenge is finding the time.  More on the way.

An addition to my assortment of T26s

The 3D printed T26 from Battleground3D has painted up a treat.

The business end.

The rear end.

Comparison shot with Battlefront and Zvedza T26 offerings.

In keeping with my other posts on some of my Soviets, the 3D model weighs 11g, the Zvedza a tiny 4g and the Battlefront one a massive 30g.  The 3D model was six pounds plus p&p, the Zvedza model cost me seven or eight Australian dollars. the Battlefront model was part of my big purchase but looking at their online store it goes for USD 13.

Doh!  I now see I should have rusted up the exhaust.

Just in time for Lock Down

Picked these up on Friday just ahead of the notification of a three day lock down here in Perth (I know we are having it easy compared to most places - and we want to keep it that way!).  They were part of a joint order I did with Richard who had discovered this manufacturer of relatively obscure WW2 kit, printed in 3D.  From the displayed photos things looked okay, but you never can be too sure...

Very happy to say these models from Battlefield3d are just magnificent, certainly exceeding expectations and proving to be very nice indeed.  My first real foray into acquiring 3D printed models.  I've been impressed by what people have done locally, but hadn't really found the excuse to get some of my own.

It was this little guy that really got my attention.

Little assembly is required and clean up is minimal, although I now see with the photographic enlargement I can do some extra work removing a few nubs.  The resin is easy to work with.
