Nikephorian Byzantine versus Danish and Swedish

The Danes and Swedes fielded by Dave are from 1300-1397 AD.  I ran the Varangian option with my Nikephorians and decided my army was supporting a rival for the throne of Scandinavia.

Deployment.
The Danes have secured their flanks.
Their infantry is not unlike the Byzantine foot,
except their archers are armed with the superior crossbow.

Both sides advance on turn 1.

By turn 2 both sides are ready for a fight.

The Danes try to win the initiative.

Turn 3 saw the Byzantines break the Danish centre.
The Varangians were bloodily repulsed,
Óld animosities between kin perhaps?

There was a bit of a lull during turn 4.

But then it was all over and Scandinavia has a new sovereign,
although with a flair for Roman-Greek culture.

    1. Interesting. A quick Google identified https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Silistra, as a battle between 60,000 Rus and 30,000 Bulgars. Looking at the Basic Impetus lists the Rus are not dissimilar to the Danes (apart from the latter having a lot of crossbowmen). The Byzantine force could well be a stand in for the Bulgars (from looking at the Volga Bulgars list).
