Early German Cavalry

These figures were destined for the scrap heap when I decided to rescue them. Ten figures do fine for an Impetus based cavalry unit.  While rather ordinary figures (with big ears) I am pleased how they have turned out.

The brand was unknown, but thanks to the Facebook Ancient and Medieval Wargame group they have been identified as Donnington.

    1. I believe it gives them a bonus on the dice. They are heading to the tabletop tonight.

  2. It is sad when old and unwanted soldier get deep-sixed. Great to see them resurrected. My Napoleonic Plastic Prussians were headed for such a fate until I persuaded their owner to shovel them over to me. I can't love them, but they have seen some action since then!

    1. Sadly I have to let go of my 1/76th WW2 and Napoleonics at some stage. Damn multiplicity of scales!

  3. Nice update Mark, they are almost unrecognisable to me. The castings are still pretty ordinary, but a great paint job definitely takes them to next level. Vast improvement on my "Beach Ball" shield patterns.

    1. Originally, I thought it was part of a helmet and what turned out to be their ponytail was a helmet plume. Then the trick was whether or not to paint the ears. But it is handy they can double as elves if ever needed.
