I have revisited the work I did on a small scenario for Napoleon's Battles using the Prussian advance on Plancenoit with the hope of actually finishing it.
Previous posts from long ago (2014/2015) can be seen here:
The scenario has been substantially revised and I am now at the test stage which was made more testing by my old trusty camera refusing to cooperate in transferring images to my computer. I was rather fond of the camera as it used to belong to my mum, but it has done its time. On with the AAR.
Stefan commands the Prussians while I control the French.
Napoleon has sent Lobau and the VI Corps to stop the Prussians.
That is Plancenoit bottom right hand corner.
The time is around 1430.
The Prussians are coming!
1500
As part of the scenario it is important that the Prussians arrive in march column
and we used some spare table space to string them out.
Prussian and French cavalry face off.
The cavalry engage
More cavalry enter the fray,
with the game imitating history.
1600
But the cavalry can't keep fighting forever...
As more and more Prussians arrive,
the French slowly pull back.
Note Prussian cavalry is regrouping lower left hand corner.
Two more Prussian brigades (six units) are about to enter.
1800
The French position just before it goes pear shaped.
Luckily the French have the village of Plancenoit to regroup in,
especially now the Young Guard have taken position.
The remaining forward French force.
The full set of Prussians coming at them.
Trying to show the full Prussian force now on the table.
Those bird's eye photos were in the hope that we can capture enough information so we can set up and continue the play test starting with the 1930 turn in another session.
A better image of the complete battlefield,
using my phone's camera.
