About 1,000 years between these two armies, but both predominantly foot. This is the first time my newly purchased Dacians had taken the field and I wasn't sure what Dave was going to run, but it was an interesting match.
The Scandinavians were out scouted, not that it mattered much.
Their heavy foot/large units would be going down before the lighter Dacians.
This is how my new army looks.
The other photos, taken with my phone's camera, have been compressed,
but this one has been left in all its pixel glory
and you should be able to click on the image and see the full thing.
Do it, as the shields are gorgeous.
The main body of Dacians holds back,
hoping to lure the enemy off the hill,
particularly if they want to get into crossbow range.
Advance!
Contact!
The centre did well.
But the left flank got stuck in a skirmish
and the right looks in trouble
(those guys on horse back are knights and way out match the Dacian medium cavalry)
Left still stuck, centre going well, right is best described as interesting.
However the Dacian bow armed skirmishers have dispatched the enemy's light cavalry.
The game is in the balance.
The Danish and Swedish knights have ridden down the Dacian commander;
the left flank is still stuck;
those boys in the centre better get on with it and snatch victory from the jaws of defeat.
At this point the Danish and Swedish commander is asking where everyone went.
His cries of "follow me" found no receivers.
And who are those guys behind us?
They don't look very friendly...
Well done! A win with a new army. The shields are fantastic! very nice. Typical Scandinavians - clock off at 5pm. Nearly as bad as Australians 😊
ReplyDeleteThanks. Nothing like a bit of Scandi noir.
