The Axis were able to significantly reduce the pocket and with the dry weather were able to renew their attack towards Stalino. Gains were few and losses were high.
The Axis appear to have abandoned the southern sector.
An attack on Melitopol lead to the Axis retreating. The Soviets have a glimmer of hope that that they just might be able to relieve the heroic city.
