The first installment was almost a year ago. While not so much a tedious task, it is not something to tackle in bulk and also has lots of rabbit holes to go down as well as trips down memory lane (mainly from some adverts and various articles).
I have now finished creating an index in Excel of the first six years worth of Military Modelling magazine.

I hope people find it of use.

What a great idea Mark. A real labour of love too!
ReplyDeleteThanks. I didn't want them to go to waste, although in this age of readily available resources via the Internet, it is possible not a great investment. But it is done now.
DeleteBut the memories and some of the ideas/inspiration - priceless!
I'm working on indexing 1982 in your format. Do you want the data when I have finished to incorporate into your spreadsheet?
ReplyDeleteYes please.
DeleteWill do.
ReplyDeleteFor starters I have indexed the missing June 1976 issue for you to complete your current sheet. Link to Google Sheet is:

Thanks, I've added it to my document. Nothing like completeness :-)
DeleteEcellent! I will add a link to it on my own wargaming magazines index page. See: http://snv-ttm.blogspot.com/p/wargames-magazine-database.html
ReplyDeleteThank you. It was your site that inspired me.

You deserve a medal - a real one. you have saved me soooo much time and effort !
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteA belated thanks for this, having just come across your blog and the MilMod index (for my sins I am struggling with storing an almost complete set from '75 through '87, with a couple missing (Jan 82; Oct and Dec 1985) plus others for 74 and 88-94...given i was born in 1975 definitely not contemporaneous collecting!). Ala, I think storage means some triage will be in order!
ReplyDeleteThanks.
DeleteYes, storage is a problem/challenge. Good luck!
