Normandy 44 - Turn 1 and 2

Today Richard and I started Normandy 44.

All set up and ready to go.

And when we've finished we have these two beauties to play.

 The Commonwealth beachhead after D-Day+2.
The beach assault took a heavy toll on the 3rd Canadian and 50th Divisions.

Except for the paratroops, the US landing went well.
Private Ryan is saved.

  1. I have not played any of this series so I will be watching with interest. One thing I do not like is the mixture of NATO symbols and tank silhouettes. I don't know why...I just don't! Never cared much for Panzer Leader / Panzer Blitz for the same reason. Sheesh! That goes back more than 40 years. Some things never change.

    1. These games use the same system that we had in Ukraine 43 and once you get a feel for it, plays well. We made a few mistakes, but nothing that couldn't be accounted for via die rolls.

I agree with you about mixing NATO symbols and silhouettes. I prefer the former. However the counters with the silhouettes have special abilities and so the additional identification serves a purpose.

  2. Whoaaaaa! Big canvas you got there. Nice one Sun. Looks like you know what you'll be doing for the duration. Best of luck.

    1. Thank you. I am playing as the Allies. Once we have played through these games we will then replay swapping sides. Double the duration!
