For my WRG 7th Edition army I need three elements of lance armed light cavalry for my Alexandrian Macedonian army. Move forward twenty years and I need four elements for my Fields of Glory army. Two figures short. I had the metal. Could I match the paint job?
Yes I think I have, but sadly not the flock... The original has yellowed with the passage of time.
I say it's a great match.
ReplyDeleteAt least you can add some new flock on the old ones to freshen them up
Ian
Thanks. I did add some new flock to one of the bases that was created by putting to singly based figures together (the old WRG rules had a wedge formation that could be used - but that was 6th I think so these figures might be older than I thought). It had a nasty gap that I have now fixed. I should have sprinkled some of the new flock on the remaining two bases perhaps.
DeleteI will see how they go, if it something that annoys me then I best fix it. It does however look more noticeable in the photo than on the table.
nice! .... what about this idea place the new flocked element outside under the sun for a day or two it may age the base? :o)
ReplyDeleteThanks Phil.
DeleteInteresting idea, rather like real life weathering effects. The figures have had a spray of heavy duty varnish that should protect them from UV damage (I think - not sure as it wasn't something I considered.
As I said in reply to the comment from Ian, if the different flock is so noticeable on the battlefield that it diminishes the playing experience then I will look at options :-)
Ah-hah.. I see the similarity. Nice work there, and I see you have even painted horses eyes! Once I have finished stacking up the 20mm WW2, I might have to revisit the Tin Soldier hordes...
ReplyDeleteSugar! I hadn't realized about painting the eyes on the old ones. Something I missed on the new ones. Drat!
DeleteSorry :-)
