Barbarossa - Set Up

We are ready for a challenge.  Also, I must give full acknowledgement to Richard for actually getting this all set up.

Definitely won't be finished by Xmas, maybe by Xmas 23...

In order to obtain an image I have taken a video of the starting position, going from Odessa to Leningrad.  I don't recall ever posting a video to my blog before, hopefully it works and shows of the game to its full potential.

Alternatively here is a still image, top down.

But wait, there's more!

Reinforcements

More reinforcements

The reinforcements are slightly complicated as they involve merging of a number of games, so care will be needed to avoid doubling up.

  1. That is a big game! Good luck!
And don't forget some panadol for sore backs leaning over the table 😁

    1. Maybe that is why Hitler chose Stalingrad in 1942 - it was too hard to reach Moscow 😁

    2. Not sure about Stalingrad or Moscow, but there are definitely maps for Kharkov and Rostov.

    3. The maps do indeed go all the way to Moscow. The very first game in this series, Typhoon! depicts this offensive. There are three additional maps which join the maps from Army Group Centre. In the South there are 4 maps which stretch all the way to Rostov which are in the Kiev to Rostov game and also into the Crimea. There were originally plans by the games' designers to go all the way to Stalingrad and the Caucasus and Caspian sea in 2 separate games, Stalingrad and Army Group A, however, they have never been released.

Depending on the map positions, it is theoretically possible to continue on to those campaigns. We will cross that bridge when we come to it.

    1. We shall see. VPs in this game are based on HQ and armour step losses as well as location capture and the addition of reinforcements.
