The only reinforcements this month are single squadrons of ship for each side,

Both sides lose 5,000 men.  Grant attacks again.  The roll is a 5.  Both sides lose 10,000 mean and gain 1 fatigue. Bragg is killed and Hardee takes over. On the Union side Curtis is killed.

Hardee digs in.

The Confederate navy starts moving up the Mississippi.

Jackson attempts to force march to Culpepper, but he rolls a 10 which is not so good when force marching.  He stops in Gordonsville for a rest.  Troops marshal in Richmond.  Early holds position.

The tide maybe be turning against the Union in the east

And in the west it remains in the balance.
