Chasseur Barres

I'm not sure what I expected, but I was rather disappointed.  His career seemed to have a lot of marching and a lot of waiting.  There are gaps in the narrative and no linkage.  The translated turn of phrase takes a bit of getting used to and often I wasn't sure what was being said.  The post Napoleonic period was interesting, mainly as it is an era I no nothing about - France seemed just very messy post Napoleon, a bit like certain places in the Middle East these days.

I can't recommend this book, even though he seems a nice guy.
