If it doesn't appear I might use some of the info gathered on rules and scales as it fits in with a general area of interest in Napoleonics that I have.

And yes, great idea. Apart from Waterloo which we've done and possibly Quatre Bras which we also did, I have Marengo and Vimerio done and redoable at short notice. They are both battles of manoeuvre on a fairly grand scale. I would even like to try adding a mini map game for Vimerio before the actual battle (so far I've had trouble getting decent source material - not many digital records from 1808 Portugal).

The biggy that I'm working on is Austerlitz. I am just completing the French (42 Dragoons to go and I've promised myself to do a new Napoleon command base). Stephen has lent me the Bowden book so my scenario will be closely based on that. However I need to pressure him about using his Austrians and Russians.

I expect Carlo might be interested in joining in as well using his preferred rules and scale which are again different to yours and mine (which nicely links back to my opening comment).Sun of Yorkhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07315805432481558574noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-430244424351512966.post-86729494869312172592016-09-02T09:05:43.949+08:002016-09-02T09:05:43.949+08:00I suspect that it will not be possible to publish ...I suspect that it will not be possible to publish it publicly on a blog, but we can only ask.
Mark, now that we no longer have the urgency to try to get a particular battle done for its bicentenary, perhaps we can collude and work our way through the battles of the Napoleonic era, probably in a circuitous order, you staging it at brigade level and us at regimental--for comparison, fun and the sheer hell of it?!!James Fisherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17897755636246185173noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-430244424351512966.post-82596070427645605362016-09-01T12:53:37.977+08:002016-09-01T12:53:37.977+08:00What my garbled comment was trying to state was, a...What my garbled comment was trying to state was, amongst the challenge created by everyone having their own favourite rules and scale for Napoleonics, it was a pity we lost the opportunity to play through the battles as their anniversaries turned up. At least we (the NWS) didn't miss the big one, Waterloo. Personally I also got to do Leipzig, but it took a few years.

In addition to rules and scales, there are those that prefer historical battles (myself for example) and others who prefer points games (which are most common with Ancient wargames).

Regardless I still have an aim to work through the Napoleonic battles. So far the only Peninsula one I've tackled and written up in this blog is Vimerio. I managed a long running Raab game in 2015 but otherwise, Napoleonics gaming has been firmly entrenched in the Peninsula.Jonathan Freitaghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07862373894196924886noreply@blogger.com
